It's been years of waiting, now finally, John Hindle Drive is open for motorist and cyclists, connecting North Glenmore neighbourhood to University District Kelowna and the Kelowna International Airport just up Highway 97.

The City of Kelowna completed phase 1 and 2 some time ago. The final, third phase was completed by the BC Ministry of Transportation. It consisted of an additional 1.8km roadway connecting John Hindle Drive from the Glenmore Landfill to the UBC Okanagan Campus at Alumni Avenue and a new signal and intersection at Upper Campus Way and Academy Way. Additionally, it also saw construction of a separated 2.8km multi-use pathway from Glenmore Road to Hollywood Road North.

This is exciting for UBCO students and others living in University District Kelowna as it will provide a second route for travelling to and from Downtown Kelowna. Additionally, John Hindle Drive is expected to ease congestion along Highway 97 by providing another route for those community through the city.
